UDARNIK

7.06.2007 - “Everybody dancing!”

This year each guest who came to celebrate “Udarnik”`s birthday received a unique opportunity to travel through time. There were two options to choose from: the ancient Russia of Ivan the Terrible`s epoch and the 70-s of the last century. The guests were met by “strelets”guards armed with pole-axes and harquebuses; waitresses, attendants and managers were walking around the hall dressed in luxurious sarafans and caftans. The tables were crammed with delicacies and snacks: roasters, fried mirror carps, sturgeon “po-tsarski”… And, certainly, they could not do without a cuisine masterpiece – a cake in the form of Monomakh`s cap. All that grandeur was benevolently observed by… the tsar in his ceremonial garments with a baculus in his hands. After a fixed look it turned out that autocrat was “Udarnik” General Manager Neil Tucker, and Monomakh`s cap really fit him.
All those surprising metamorphoses could be easily explained: the festive night in “Udarnik” was thematic, and its theme was a cult film by Leonid Gaiday, “Ivan Vassilievich changes his occupation” That is why Ivan Vassilievich Bunsha, film producer Yakin and other well-known characters were walking around the hall. By the way, all the costumes of the show participants were authentic: they had been taken from “Mosfilm” stores especially for that night.
In addition to traditional draws which brought to the lucky ones considerable amounts in rubles, the guests were entertained by Storm Show Ballet, by a virtuoso balalaika player, by musical bands “Bozhia Korovka” and “Hi-Fi”. And, though the night was quite a success, some of the guests (just like Gaiday`s Ivan Vassilievich) demanded the “continuation of the banquet”.
